Update

Well, i haven’t updated this in a while so i guess it’s that time.

Been working at John Wood Comm College for week and a half and it’s good. Although, the evenings have been slow, but eventually that will pick up and i will be working on different projects as well.

Other than that not much going on. Oh, one more thing i need to mention about last night the 10th of Jan..

Even though i had pretty much an uneventful evening at work, my drive home was different. Forecast had chance of flurries, rain etc. Temp around 32. Left work around 9pm, and it was clear. Driving home (30 miles N) was fine up until 2 miles south of my home town. I’m driving along and i’m gaining on a truck so i prepare to go in the left lane to pass him, as i am doing so, i must have hit a slap of ice or something becuase i ended up in the median. I still had control of the car though. i just slid and when i finally stopped, i started to get back on the highway, and headed home. This time going about 45 mph. Also when all this was happening the truck was putting on his brake to see if i was going to make it out or not. Then when he saw i made it back on the highway, he contiuned. After i got home, i took a minuted to thank God for protecting me and not allowing anything to happen. After i got inside, the doorbell rang and it was the driver of the truck and i guess wanted to make sure everything was ok. i said yes, and I also thank him for slowing down for me incase i couldn’t get out.

Fianl Job Search Update

Yes, i did say Final!

Yesterday afternoon, i accepted a Help Desk position at John Wood Comm College. Hours will be 12pm – 9pm CST. Since they get a week off for christmas break, my start date isn’t until 1/3/06. That pay is alright for this area, but the benefits are awesome! I finally get health insurance again (first time in 3 yrs). Woohoo…

Actually the afternoon was like this: had a meeting with the VP of Business and Industry (who oversees the the IT Dept). Was shown around the Dept by my manager, and also was shown a couple of server closets. During all of this, they talked like i had already accepted the position, but officially had yet to be offered the job. After i got done with the tour, i went back to HR, and that is when i was offered the job. When i applied, the starting pay was 1x,xxx; then just recently they reposted it at a higher pay. So they offered me the job at the higher pay. No problem with that!

So orientation will be on 1/3/06 from 8am – 5pm, then the next day, i will start with my normal shift. I think i will like it, it will just take a little bit to get use to things, and hopefuly they won’t close down in a year or so like my previous two jobs did. That would suck. A friend told me last night, if they closed up, he would laugh. My reply to him was if they did, i would just forget working for the rest of my life.

So that’s it for now

Man, have i been busy! Last several weeks i, along with the associate pastor have been getting things ready for Christmas Celebration that our church had this past weekend. We had four performances and 3 of the 4 were sold out. It was kinda like a dinner theater. The first half was a quartet, intermission where the guests was served dessert, and the second half was the chrurch choir. I was the light engineer, and assisted with the sound. We had run into some minor problems with the lights and flipping breakers, but solved the problem the day before the first performace.

Also i had a second interview at John Wood Comm College for a Help Desk position last week. Things went very well infact that they called my references for a reference and this afternoon at 3pm CST, i have a meeting with the VP of Business and Industry.
