Apparently my body didn’t know that i had to drive seven hours home today. I initially woke up around 6:30am, then again at 7am. I tried to go back to sleep, but i couldn’t so finally at 7:30am, i got out of bed and got ready. After i checked out, had breakfast with Elisabeth and her family at this cute little place where you cook your own pancakes, french toast, eggs, etc. Very Cool! After we said our goodbye, i started the final stretch of my vacation. It was a nice sunny day to end my vacation on and to think back at the week at some things:

1 – Saw an accident in the middle turn-lane and one of the cars had a tire all messed up. That was weird, but then again, it was in Alabama that i saw that. 😉 😉
2 – Got to see PCC’s IT Dept and to see how they do things. Also talked to three IT guys that i went to college with.
3 – Met with several of my computer science instructors to ask what is going with them, and me telling them what has been going on in my life as well as saying that i enjoy my job and like what i do in the IT field.
4 – Got to see the new buildings on campus and get a VIP tour of one of them. (it pays to know people that do A\V for the college…)
5 – Had the opportunity to eat supper with a family that had a son that was looking at the college. Answered questions from him and the parents.
6 – Had a good conversation with said person in #4 and his wife about their child who is five and who also is on medication for seizures like myself.
7 – Met up with really good friend from college in Nashville (who came from ATL), went to see a live-action version of The Christmas Story, and had a couple of meals with them.
8 – Finally, took lots of pics!

Even though there was only a few alumni from my college yrs there that i met up with while in Florida, i would say having those two conversations made the trip worth while!

As well as meeting up with a very good friend in Nashville and catching up after not seeing each other for 7 or 8 yrs.

Time to start the journey back to reality and cold weather. Left Pcola at 71 degrees and arrived in Brentwood, TN (Nashville) around 45 degrees. Had to deal with a little rain, and i could tell the more north i drove, the colder it got. I had the heat turned on just a little by the time i got to Nashville.

A good friend from college and her family came up from ATL and met me because we haven’t seen each other in about 9 yrs or so. 🙂 We went out to eat and then we went to see the christmas story live at the TPAC in downtown Nashville. This has probably been the third or fourth time that i have actually been to a play in a small theater format, and i always enjoy going to them. We had front row seats.

We will try to do something together tomorrow before i complete my week of rest and relaxation and not worry too much about normal life. It has been such a great trip so far, but for now it’s off to bed in my king size bed (it was the same price as a room with two doubles).

Thanksgiving Day is always a fun and special time at PCC. 🙂

You have a special thanksgiving breakfast (which i did not to) at either 7:30am or 9am, then you have a Thanksgiving Praise Service at 10:30am, where you are reminded to be thankful every day, and not just during this one day. After that, i went to the beach to get some pictures as well as went to Fort Pickens. To get to the beaches, one has to drive over two bridges, one of them is about 1/4 mile long if i remember right.

After the beach, i came back on campus to watch the men’s soccer championship, known as the Turkey Bowl. It’s a fun time for students and the teams involved with crazy stuff before the game and during half time.

After that is all done, a special thanksgiving dinner is prepared at serving times are at 3pm, 4:30pm, and at 6pm at the two main eating places on campus.

I also need to mention that during this few days, PCC has College Days, which allows high school students to come check out the campus, go to classes, stay in the dorm rooms, and experience what college life is like.

In the evening on Thanksgiving, the students can go cheer on their men’s basketball team as they take on the alumni Eagles team or they can go to what we call Fine Arts Series. It’s where PCC has special preformers invited such as an opera, world-renowned choir groups, or even have their own faculty and staff put on a production play. This FAS is a production play called “Our Town”. The FAS has three preformances and each student is required to go to one of them. Added to this, each FAS has it’s own dress code and it is formal. So, the guys get dressed up in suits and some even wear a tux. Where as the women wear formal dresses. They have two of these a year. i should probably also note here that the flower shops in town probably have an increase in sales during these times because most guys buy their date a flower and some women buy their date a corsage.

So, that is how i spent five thanksgivings during my college life.

Now i need to go to bed because it;s getting close to midnight and i will start my journey back to the cold weather. However not before i stop in Nashville, and see a good friend from college and her family.
