This afternoon at work, i am working with permissions and delegation within Active Directory, so the student workers at the help desk don’t have full access to the directory. Instead they will only have access to the students OU and the disabled students OU. Anyway, i thought i had all of ther permissions set, as i was using my user acct for testing purposes, so i decided to see if i could delete a user account that was in a different OU. So, i went to the Information Services OU, and went to delete my account. Under normal cicrumstances, it would have given me an error message, however since i did not log off and log back in when i removed myself from the Help Desk Admin Group, the permissions did not take effect. So, that wasn’t a big deal until i just realized a few minutes before i left work this evening that deleting my own user acct also deleted my exchange (which had several e-mails and reoccuring appointments that needed to be kept. I emailed the Director of IS, to see if they can be recovered or if i am SOL.
As a side note: asking the director may not be so great since he is a Cub fan through and through and i am a Cardinal fan and the rivalry between those two teams………….;) 😉
